Q
Can we use Vouch and Visual Vouch concurrently? |
|
 |
Yes. On one terminal you can run Vouch
from the DOS box of Windows and at another terminal Visual Vouch.
You can reap benefits of both protocols, viz., data entry speed of
DOS and multithreaded reporting capabilities of Windows. In fact,
we suggest to run Vouch on those terminals where data entry or
printing is heavy and Visual Vouch on those terminals where
viewing, quering and auditing is performed as you are allowed to
open as many different sets of browsers in as many windows you
like. There is a limitation on the number of multiple windows in
Windows 95,98,ME but no limit in Windows XP or 2000. |

Q
. What are the benefits of Visual Vouch over Vouch? |
|
 |
Intelligent multi-threading. You can
open as many windows of different sets of the same data for
comparison purposes. Because all other windows only features can
be accessed through Vouch also, for example, sendig emails,
submitting data to MS Excel, Ms Word, invoking 3D-2D graphs, etc.,
multithreading and multi-windowing is the only big advantage of
Visual Vouch. And off course, GUI environment. |

Q
. Which type of printers are supported in Vouch? |
|
 |
Practically any printer which has the
capability to allow movement of printer head. Dot matrix and line
printers can be used for high-speed generic printing, for example,
Statement of Accounts, Inventory Listings, etc., and Inkjet or
Laser Printers can be used for invoices or those documents which
need colored output with pictures, barcodes, rectangles, circles,
etc. |

Q
. What is the meaning of on-line data encryption in Vouch? |
|
 |
By on-line data encryption means
each transaction is recorded in the database as encrypted values
rather than the values that are entered into the forms. Each table
has a number and in each table each field is numbered. Vouch knows
what is to be placed in respective fields. What user sees in the
form or browsers are the decrypted values of given record set
where decryption takes place in the memory. Physical records in
the database ever remain encrypted. |

Q
. Is it true that encryption protocol differs with each
license? |
|
 |
Yes. Each license of Vouch changes the
encryption protocol employed which is based on various factors
asked as the time of installation. No two organizations can share
the data between them. A lost backup is rendered useless to
others. |

Q
. Can we lock data in any manner? |
|
 |
Yes. There are various methods through
which data can be locked. At the top of the list is you can lock
records upto a certain date as per user group. This is global
right. Any user falling under that group cannot add, edit, or
delete records prior to such date. This locking mechanism is only
available for transaction modules only where date field is a must
have field. Master type modules cannot be controlled through this
feature. Next for each module you can define locking strategy.
This is a flexible system but is applicable on all users. For
example, if you wish that certain customers must not be invoiced
during certain period, or, payment to certain vendors is not
released until expression [xxx] is true, you can design a macro to
this effect. |

Q
. Can we design reports at our own? |
|
 |
Yes. A state of the art Report Designer
is available in Vouch. Which tables are to be included (you need
not to remember the names, selection is available based on the
main menu system of the application), columns and their types,
widths, decemals, etc., how data from the attached tables will be
included in the columns with a good control over filtration,
which accounting periods need be included in the report, which
organizations to be looked after, and more can be defined. Apart
from normal browser based printing, document can also be designed
to enhance printed output. Even external data sources in the form
of .dbf can be mixed with proprietary databases of Vouch. |

Q
. Can we design documents at our own? |
|
 |
Yes. An excellent document designer is
incorporated in Vouch. It used band-based technology. Header,
brought forward, group1-7, detail, carry forward, summary, footer,
all can be incorporated. Fields and user defined macros which
return values can be inserted anywhere. Cut, copy and paste is
supported. Each row in transactions can be configured to be
printed conditionally. If desired, all the graphic elements can be
placed on the document like bitmaps, lines, circles, rectangles,
textboxes, circles, barcodes ( 3 of 9 and 128B ).Currently
coloured printing is supported in Vouch (Console) only. Visual
Vouch yet lacks this functionality. If user wants print preview
with more features can also be provided ( a separate license is
required for US$ 40.00 for each computer ). |

Q
. Is Vouch capable of interacting with Internet? |
|
 |
Yes. Data can be transferred over the
internet. Prime implementation is the email. You can configure any
number of email accounts which in turn can be attached with any
browser. Because configuration of email accounts is expression
based and is evaluated at the time of sending the mail, is too
suitable to be attached with any browser of Vouch. For example,
you can configure en email account so that it returns the values
from General Ledger and can attached to 'Statement of Account'
browser, then by clicking a button of the browser, the viewing
'Statement of Account' will be emailed to the address returned by
email account. The format in which the browser is to be attached
with the email message can also be predefined. The supported
formats are: .dbf, .xls, .sdf, .del, .htm, .wk1. Apart from this
absolute messages can also be relayed along with 8 attachments. |
