Filters in Vouch have a broad concept and are quit handy
tool to view a subset of a particular table. Filters in Vouch can be
retained for future usage, can be edited and deleted.
The Usage
To view a subset of data in the table underneath current module which can
be activated by keyboard's (F)ilter key when DEW is in view mode.
To define filter criteria on attached databases in a report designed
through Report Generator.
To supply the filter condition to 'Record Selection Wizard'.
How to define
Enter a module through main menu.
Press F.
A popup will appear as follows.

Create New Query will lead to another popup to
select nature of query:

Selective option in will clear the form and invite
user to input values in the fields. A message in the message area of DEW
will flash as 'Press <Ctrl+F1> to Define Range Attribute'
to advanced options for each field. By default entered values are matched
exactly against the table contents which can be changed to suit your
requirements by pressing Ctrl_F1 after positioning the cursor on the field
where it is sought, such as:


First image is valid for character fields and the next one for date and
numeric fields. After putting up the values in the fields with filter
attributes, Vouch bring forth a browser view of subset of table meeting
given conditions, if any record is found, otherwise alerts abount its
failure.
Manual option requires some programming skill
though Vouch offers a state of the art Vouch
Expression Builder.
After expression is built, Vouch bring forth a browser view of subset
of table meeting given conditions, if any record is found, otherwise
alerts about its failure.
At final step, you will be prompted to save or not this filter
definition. If your reply is positive then short name and description of
the filter will be asked for something like this:

and the process will be repeated for description which will be
presented while playing it. The filter definition is saved for future
usage.
Play Selected Query presents all available
query definitions for the module under process and by selecting one
activates the filter and brings forth the browser view of subset of table.
Edit a Query is only valid for Manual Queries
and steps to edit it are the same as if creating a query differing only
that previous expression is visible in Expression Building Window.
Delete a Query first asks for the selection of
a query by name and deletes its definition permanently.
